What we collect
ShareSift does not require an account, and you can use every screening and analysis feature without giving us anything at all. When you use the API, your IP address may be logged by our host (Vercel) and used for per-IP rate limiting.
Saved on your device only
Your watchlist, saved screens, recent searches and display preferences are kept in your browser’s local storage. They are never uploaded, and clearing your browser data removes them permanently.
Alerts (only if you switch them on)
Alerts are entirely optional, and nothing below is stored unless you explicitly subscribe to a saved screen.
Browser notifications. We store the anonymous push endpoint your browser issues, the screen definition to re-run, and the list of tickers it last matched. A push endpoint does not identify you and cannot be used to contact you anywhere else. Revoking notification permission, or clearing site data, invalidates it; we delete it automatically the first time delivery fails as a result.
Email alerts. If you subscribe by email we store your email address alongside the same screen definition and ticker list. An email address is personal data, so:
- We send one confirmation email and store the address as unconfirmed. Nothing else is ever sent to an address that has not confirmed.
- An address that never confirms is deleted automatically within 48 hours.
- Every alert email contains an unsubscribe link, and supports one-click unsubscribe in Gmail and Outlook. Unsubscribing deletes the address and the alert immediately.
- Depending on how this deployment is configured, email is sent either directly from the operator’s own mailbox over SMTP — in which case no third party receives your address — or via Resend, who receive it for delivery only.
- We never send anything other than the alerts you asked for. No marketing, and the address is not shared or sold.
To delete an alert at any time, use the unsubscribe link in any alert email, or turn the alert off in the app.
Third parties
Data requests are proxied to Yahoo Finance (unofficial), SEC EDGAR, and NSE India. Those providers receive server-side requests from our infrastructure, not your browser directly.
Cookies
This app does not set tracking cookies, and no third-party analytics or advertising script runs on it. Usage is measured by this site itself, and only in aggregate.
What is recorded. When you view a page we add 1 to counters shared by everyone who did the same thing that day: which kind of page (a ticker page is recorded as “/s/:symbol”, never the URL you visited), which country your request came from, whether your screen is phone-, tablet- or desktop-sized, which browser family, which site linked you here, which ticker was analysed, which features were used, and how quickly the page loaded and responded in your browser.
What is not recorded. There is no visitor identifier of any kind, so nothing stored can be linked back to you or joined into a profile. We do not store your IP address for this; the country comes from a header our host adds at the edge. We cannot tell which pages any one person viewed, and we could not answer that question about you even if asked, because the information does not exist. Counters are deleted after 90 days.
On your device. Two small values are kept in your browser and never sent: a flag marking the current tab as counted, and the date you last visited. They are used only to send “this is a new visit” and “this browser has been here before” as yes/no answers.
Opting out. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is sent at all. Blocking requests to /api/track has the same effect, and nothing about the app changes if you do.
