About ShareSift
ShareSift is a free stock and ETF screener for the ASX, US, India and seven more markets. It is built and run by Chandrasekar Dhakshinamurthy, an independent developer based in Australia.
Why it exists
Most free screening tools fall into one of two camps. Some are run by brokers, where the screener exists to bring you to a trading account. Others hide their scoring behind a "rating" you are asked to trust.
ShareSift was built to be the opposite:
- Every score is a published rule. The value score, Piotroski F-Score and Altman Z-Score are fixed formulas, explained in full. There is no hidden model, and with the same figures you can reproduce any score by hand.
- It says what it cannot see. Each analysis lists the things a screen does not know — what a company sells, how good its management is, what has happened since its last report.
- It never tells you what to buy. ShareSift describes reported figures. It does not make recommendations, and it does not take commissions or payment for featuring any company or fund.
- No sign-up, no tracking cookies. You can use every feature without an account. Usage is measured only in aggregate, with no visitor identifier — see the privacy policy.
Where the data comes from
- Prices and most fundamentals: Yahoo Finance. Prices are delayed by around 15 minutes; fundamentals are as last reported by each company.
- US company filings: the US Securities and Exchange Commission's public EDGAR database, used for the Piotroski F-Score, Altman Z-Score and multi-year growth figures.
- Non-US financial statements: annual statements from Yahoo Finance.
- ASX ETF fees: where the data provider has none, fees published on issuers' own product pages, labelled with the date they were gathered.
Full details are on the data sources page. Data can be delayed, incomplete or occasionally wrong; ShareSift shows a figure as missing rather than estimating it.
How often it updates
- Prices: on each page load, delayed around 15 minutes.
- Company fundamentals and scores: whenever a company reports new figures.
- Screen and market pages: refreshed at least every six hours.
- Alerts: saved screens with alerts are checked once each weekday after the US market close.
What ShareSift is not
ShareSift is a research tool. It is not a financial adviser, a broker or a fund manager, and it does not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence. Nothing on the site takes into account your objectives, financial situation or needs. Before acting on anything, consider whether it is appropriate for you and seek independent advice.
